A Story Of Reconciliation

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

In my sermon yesterday I referenced the story of Marguerite “Maggy” Barankitse of Burundi, Africa. Her story is a testimony to the power of forgiveness and the possibility of reconciliation in our world. Below I have posted a video that explores her story in more depth.

In this video Maggy points to the power of the gospel. This vision of reconciliation is not something that we can manufacture from human willpower. She explains that her pursuit of reconciliation was empowered by her encounter with the Christian gospel.

Her story is convicting to me. If she was able to work towards reconciliation and forgiveness in the midst of extreme violence and injustice, why do I allow the minor grievances and disagreements to persist in my own life?

If you have a few minutes today I’d encourage you to watch this powerful story of reconciliation and hope!
